Breaking down the Bears’ Wednesday training camp practice:

What happened

Second-string quarterback Tyson Bagent remained sidelined by a hamstring injury when the Bears held an hourlong practice on the backfields of Halas Hall. Case Keenum, who had a perfect 158.3 passer rating against the Browns, practiced with the second team. He figures to play more snaps Saturday than any other quarterback.

Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and left guard Joe Thuney each received a veteran’s day off to prepare to Thursday’s joint practice in Cincinnati.

Practice ended as players cheered their coaches participating in an end zone drill.

Davenport ‘disruptive’

Defensive end Marcus Davenport has yet to practice since he signed with the Bears earlier this week, but defensive coordinator Dennis Allen thinks he’ll be able to help his pass rush soon enough.

Allen was part of the Saints team that drafted Davenport in Round 1 in 2018.

“He's always been a disruptive player,” Allen said.

The issue in recent years has been his health. He played 15 games in 2022 and 14 total since.

“The biggest thing for Marcus, and it's been that way throughout his career, it’s his ability to be healthy and maintain his health,” Allen said. “But when he's out there, he's a disruptive force.”

What’s next

The Bears hustled out of Halas Hall after practice to fly to Cincinnati, putting the 260 or so members of their traveling party through security screening on-site.They’ll practice against the Bengals from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Kettering Health Practice Fields adjacent to Paycor Stadium.
